"The santoor is an old instrument that has been used in the Kashmir area in North Indi, it used to be used for fork-tune and religious songs, but Santoor master Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma has introduced this rare instrument into the North Indian Traditional style called Hindustani.
There are similar instruments like Hammer Dulcimar, Piano from Europe, 楊琴 from China, it is said that Santoor originated from that family of instruments. For this concert, we will play in the traditional North Indian style. The santoor's speciallity is a mathematical rhythmic approach since it is not only a melody instrument, but a arhythm instrument as well. It becomes even more interesting when it is played with Tabla.
